Love gets tested

Lara Pietersen

When we were friends, so long ago
Hope wanders in fae’s tale
Heart didn't know it loved you then
With every Breath exhaled.

And somewhere on that flowered path
You begged for Hope’s caged Heart
And somewhere on the darkened road
Heart's cage was torn apart.

Through all the doubts, your lies, Heart's tears
Your words of trust soothed fears
Heart let you in, you saw Heart's soul
But in Love's test, you failed.

'Cause in Love’s test, some people fail
Hearts break, burn, tear, Breaths can't exhale
Hearts scream sil’nt, no wounds scar over
On Dread's dark day, you'll Love another.

Heart’s endless watch, no cage of lead
We can't be friends, with Hope now dead
You can't just choose, reject or keep
Heart's strengths, Heart's love, when Hearts, they weep.

When Love was tested, and you did fail
Heart broke, Heart tore, Breath can't exhale
And Heart screams silence, wounds don't scar over,
Heart dreads the day you love another.

And every night, you steal Heart's Dreams
Love's kiss, snakes hiss. Heart silent screams
Hope dead, Trust gone, Hate creeps on in
But endless Love should always win.

Your Love was tested, why did you fail?
Break, burn, tear Heart, stop Breath's exhale?
Make Heart scream silence? Wounds can't scar over
When Dread's day comes, you'll Love another.

Heart pleas forever, through silent screams
Love haunts, Love taunts, Dread's nightly dreams
Tormented tears, Heart ripped asunder.
Green Monsters grin, you’ll love another.

  1. I think T.S. Eliot said/wrote: “Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood.” In that sense, I think you totally succeeded in writing genuine poetry, because -while I don't understand every bit just quite- it communicates a bunch of feelings and ideas very well, if that makes any sense. That said, I don't think poetry should really be over-analyzed, I like a little bit of mystery :D Congratulations on starting this blog, by the way, I can't wait to see what else you've got to share! Good luck!

  2. I like it. Understanding what you've been through helped me understand it all. Very emotional stuff! Hugs! Thanks for sharing it with me!

  4. :( So sorry love. Trust is the currency of relationships, and there is nothing that hurts as much as being given false coin. Hope your heart heals soon.
